I used to love watching Nightmare before Christmas with my kids on Halloween. And I just watched Blair Witch Project the other night, still so good, although I knew the ending when it came, and the guy is in the corner, I still got creeped out. Last night I watch the 1960's version of the House of Usher and it it has so much allusions around concepts of one's reality, mental illness and superstition, I loved it, got me in the mood for Halloween. I would also recommend these recent (last few years) movies to watch during the Halloween season, Cuckoo, Strange Darling, Longlegs, the Rental, Barbarian, It Follows, Hereditary, Midsommer, 28 Years Later, Babadook, The Witch, and Smile 2. Thank you for your comments! I have yet to see Nightmare before Christmas, Cuckoo, Longlegs, The Witch and Smile 2 - I might watch one of them this weekend. Hereditary and Midsommer, not sure if they are my kind of horror, they seem kind of creepy and disturbing. Blair Witch scared me the first time around, although I found that it did not hold up with later viewings. I want to see House of Usher, I have heard good things. Thank you and enjoy Halloween!
