Trailerblazing -- Spectre

Spectre -- November 6, 2015 -- directed by Sam Mendes -- starring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Bellucci, Léa Seydoux

And... we finally have a trailer for Sam Mendes's second 007 outing, named after the global criminal organization that provides the background for many of James Bond's adventures. It seems that the film is delving into the origins of the syndicate and possibly linking Bond's past to the new enemy. I liked the hints at Bond's previous life that were shown in Skyfall and, even though I miss the relative lightheartedness of the earlier films, I do appreciate Mendes's style and think that Craig is the perfect 007 to walk the rough path ahead. Waltz is the new villain, which makes me and numerous other fans extremely happy, and Bellucci and Seydoux are the new Bond allies... or are they? While we do not see Seydoux in the teaser, we get the briefest glimpse of Bellucci's Lucia Sciarra at a memorial service. There is also a rather somber Naomi Harris, as well as Jesper Christensen's Mr. White in exile. When it comes to this franchise, the always incredible locations are characters unto themselves and Spectre offers us Morocco, Austria and Mexico among others, so I look forward to seeing how they are utilized. In the end, the one thing I know for sure is that we are looking at another hit for Mendes and Craig, another win for the franchise and one of the biggest films of the year.
